Miller Outdoor Theatre

The Miller Outdoor Theatre is a great free place to go on a date or with the entire family.  There are free children's shows at 11:00 a.m. plus evening shows usually at 8:00 p.m.  They also offer free movie screenings on occasion.  The theatre is a great place to go for free entertainment plus there is a ton of fun located in Hermann Park. Directions: The Miller Outdoor Theater is an outdoor theater located in Hermann Park.  It is a place for the performing arts in Houston to showcase their work.  The address is 6000 Hermann Park Drive, Houston 77030. Seating: The audience members can either sit in the covered seating area or enjoy the show on the amphitheatre-style hillside.  The pavillion seats 1,700 people, and there are also 20 handicap spots.  The hillside seating is not ticketed.  You are allowed to bring blankets and lawn chairs with you. Cost: All performances at the Miller Outdoor Theatre are free of charge. There are evening events that offer free ticketed, assigned seating that are available on a first come first serve basis. Shows: The theater offers a large variety of shows such as classical music, jazz, ballet, Shakespeare, musical theater, classic films, youth performances, etc.  The free performances are offered during the months of March through November. Calendar: The performance calendar is listed on their website along with details about each performance.  To view the calendar, click here.  The calendar shows the events color coded by ticketed events, non-ticketed events, and children's performances. Dress Code: The Miller Outdoor Theatre is very casual unlike traditional theatres.  Due to the relaxed atmosphere, you are invited to dress casually. Food/Drinks: You are allowed to bring food and drinks to enjoy during the show.  They do not allow glass containers so please leave them at home. Hermann Park: There are so many fun things to do at Hermann Park in addition to enjoying a show at the theatre.  While you're there, you can also visit the Houston Zoo, the Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Garden Center, the Hermann Park Golf Course, The Japanese Garden, a train ride, the pedal boats, the children's playground and splashpad, the McGovern Centennial Gardens, the Pinewood Cafe, feed the ducks, etc. Upcoming Children's Performances: Click HERE for the October calendar.
