The Houston Police Museum
Children love to see police cars, police officers, and anything police related. Well, if your children love anything police, I have the place for you.
The Houston Police Museum is located downtown at 1200 Travis Street. You can tour the museum for free, and they're open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The self guided tour is in the lobby of the HPD headquarters. The museum is small, but it definitely has items that will interest your little ones. You can expect to see police cars, a motorcycle, a helicopter, artifacts, badges, uniforms, and much more. For a guided tour, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org
. The guided tours are for groups of ten or more, and they prefer children at the elementary school age and up. For more information, please visit their website
You can probably tour the museum in fifteen to thirty minutes so please be prepared for a quick, short visit especially if you have little ones. Even though the tour is very fast, your kids will still love it. I first took my son when he was two years old. He loved seeing the police car, helicopter, etc. I usually swing by the police museum when I know that we will already be in that area for something else.
