Houston has many events planned for St. Patrick’s Day this year. The biggest event is the parade on Saturday, March 12th. The parade will start at the Clock Tower on Texas Ave. and end at St. Emmanuel St. and Rusk. There will also be a celebration at Lucky’s Pub following the parade.
If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, the Annual 1960 Saint Patrick’s Parade will take place on Sunday, March 13th, at 2 pm. The parade will run 3.1 miles from Champion Forest to Kuykendahl. And if you’re still looking for something to do on Thursday, March 17th, the Houston Press has put together a list of events geared more towards adults. There will be musical performances, bingo, contests, tastings, golf tournaments, and more around the city.
If you have kids, there are also many online resources with activities to teach them about the holiday. You can talk about topics such as the history of Irish holidays, leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold, shamrocks, luck, the history of Saint Patrick, etc. There are also several fun crafts to do with your kids at home. Pinterest has a ton of cute ideas.
Whatever you do this St. Patrick’s Day, have a happy and safe one!
